Why trees?
Trees are true wonders of nature. They bind carbon dioxide (CO2) and convert it into biomass and oxygen. Through the evaporation of water, they help cool the forest floor in summer and protect it from drying out. They also increase water retention in the landscape and enrich the soil with humus, which also stores a lot of CO2.
In addition, trees provide habitat and food for numerous animal and plant species. Our forests also serve as recreational areas for us humans. Their diverse ecosystem services are essential for the regional climate and a living planet. Given these positive properties, it is obvious that tree planting makes a lot of sense.
Without reforestation, the massive destruction of forests both in Europe and worldwide will destroy our planet and our climate in the long term.
